「Invitation from Hogwarts」

18th March 2026 – 6th September 2026

A Special Limited-Time Feature: “Invitation from Hogwarts” The magical story of Harry Potter began with a letter as he is about to turn eleven.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone,
Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo presents a limited-time feature where you can relive the moment it all began.
Step into the sets, exhibitions, and interactive experiences, and feel the same wonder and excitement Harry felt when he first encountered magic—only available for a limited time.

A magical journey that begins only here, only now.

It has been 25 years since Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone first invited us into the magical world.

The moment we first held a wand, the Sorting Ceremony in the Great Hall with its floating candles, and that night walking through Hogwarts beneath the Invisibility Cloak inherited from his father—every one of these memories still lives deep in our hearts as the story’s origin.

Giant Acceptance Letter

A giant display of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry acceptance letter, delivered to Harry Potter, welcomes you at the entrance to the tour. This iconic letter, symbolising the beginning of the story, marks the first step into the Wizarding World.

The design was created by MINALIMA, the graphic design duo behind the Harry Potter film series, with meticulous attention to detail. Be sure to take a photo and enjoy the feeling of preparing for your own journey to Hogwarts.

The Sorting Ceremony – A Moment of Destiny

During this limited-time event, the Great Hall will be transformed into the setting for the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry’s iconic Sorting Ceremony.

Lit by over 400 floating candles, the space will become an enchanting atmosphere that captures the awe of the school’s newest first-years.

Wingardium Leviosa!

During the feature, you will discover the secrets behind one of Harry’s first experiences of magic; Professor Flitwick’s Charms class.

In a live demonstration, you are invited to try your hand at Wingardium Leviosa and see how filmmaking techniques were used to bring the spell to life. Created using practical effects, rather than CGI, the magic was as simple as stringing a feather onto a fishing line.

A technique described by Special Effects Supervisor, John Richardson, as ‘’going back to the silent movie era.”

All things Rubeus Hagrid

Among the first wizards Harry meets was beloved half-giant Hagrid. While actor Robbie Coltrane stood at 6ft, he was not quite tall enough to portray a half-giant.

During many scenes, 6ft 10” England rugby player Martin Bayfield was used as a body double fitted with stilts and a prosthetic head to achieve Hagrid’s towering height.

During “Invitation from Hogwarts”, a live demonstration of this process will show you how the half-giant was brought to life right in front of your eyes.

Invisibility cloak

Gifted to Harry in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the Invisibility Cloak features prominently in the films.

Several different cloaks were made, including a version with a green fabric lining which allowed the Visual Effects Department to make Harry and his friends invisible in post-production.

Discover how Harry was made to appear invisible on screen through a special live demonstration, revealing the visual effects techniques used to bring this magical moment to life.
